Enola becomes interested in the disappearance of an aristocratic young lady called Lady Cecily. She visits the missing girl’s house and discovers her secret drawings featuring the poor people of London. She also interviews her friend Alexander Finch and learns that both Alexander and Cecily were sympathetic to the cause of the proletariat workmen of this world. Slowly the threads of this mystery are unravelling around Enola, but this also means she is getting dangerously close to a maniac. Was jedoch wieder sehr viel Spaß machte, waren die Illustrationen von Serena Blasco. Schon das Cover war wieder ein Kunstwerk für sich, da es verspielt die wichtigsten Elemente des Bandes zeigte. Noch schöner war es allerdings diesen Artstyle auch im Inneren zu finden, denn er macht einfach Spaß und schafft es die Charaktere herrlich verspielt wirken zu lassen. Besonders gelungen empfand ich dabei die Verwandlungen von Enola selbst. Da sie im Laufe der Geschichte in verschiedene Rolle schlüpfte, war es schön zu sehen, dass man sie so weit veränderte, dass man nicht wüsste das sie Enola ist.

What was more amusing and entertaining was the way in which the main characters constantly skirted around each other. In a classic who-done-it episode, this one turns out to be one of the better shows from the 5th season. And therefore we also got a heartbreaking image of the life Enola would have if Mycroft would get what he wants. The contrast between the Enola we see and the life she knows she should have is huge. And therefore I'd say that this book is not so much about the case, but more a very well done history lesson.
